I used the original ComfortGel for years. It served me well. The Blue retains the good features (especially the replaceable cushion/flap) and improves fit. For me, it seals better and the slimmer profile cuts down on contact area on the sides of my nose, which means less irritation of my dermatitis. The exhalation port change is a wash; when I sleep with the tube coming from below it's better, when it comes from above (when I face away from the machine) its a bit more noticeable.

Best of the best

I have used the regular Comfort gel for about 4 years and love it. I hate the stupid design flaw where the clip attached to the mask that broke on all three masks that I owned (size small). The new mask albeit a different model fixed those problems.
The ComfortGel Blue is more comfortable everywhere. It is softer on my face due to the redesigned cushion, and by now everyone knows the attach point is completely redesigned and beefed up.
I liked that the old mask was super quiet and vented through the snorkel. I was worried the new baffle on the nose area would not be as quiet. It is very quiet, and it exhausts the air in the opposite direction of the tubing, and it is much more directional. This means if won't hit your wife in the face if you guide the tubing the right way.
I would give the old mask 3.5 stars due to the design flaws, and this new ComfortGel Blue a solid 5.

My son has been using the original ComfortGel mask for years without any problem. He began using the new ComfortGel Blue a couple of weeks ago, but had to discontinue because the narrow edge of gel cushion caused an open sore on the bridge of his nose. Additionally, he complains of noise from that air being exhausted from the mask. Unfortunately, the ComfortGel has been discontinued. We're going to try the Profile Lite which is moldable.

I recently purchased a new ComfortGel BLUE Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear (#1070039), upgrading from my original Respironics ComfortGel Nasal Mask (#1009041) and was pleasantly surprised by the vastly improved comfort achieved by Respironics' several incremental design enhancements. The new BLUE line of ComfortGel nasal CPAP masks are much better than the original.
