HumidAire 3i Heated Humidifier |

I have been using an S8 and the 3i for almost 2 years. My area has "semi-hard" water and I would never use it in my humidifier. I do not want to breathe in that stuff. I use distilled water (as recommended by ResMed). With a drop of mild detergent for cleaning mine is still as clear as new. Once a week I do the vinegar soak (1:3 with water) for sanitary cleaning. My unit is set to 14 and I have found that the heater need never be set above 60% to give good humidification.

The humidifier that comes custom made for this unit is much less than satisfactory. For starters, it is very difficult to clean. If you live in a hard water area, as I do, there will be lots of scale buildup, even when using white vinegar to clean.
In addition, humidification at the highest setting does not keep up with the need if the c-pap is set at a high pressure.
