| A ten pack of seal rings for the Respironics REMstar M Series Humidifier. These teal-colored O-rings fit in a channel around the top piece of the humidifier water chamber. The seal ring must be in place to prevent leaking. Although there is no specific recommended replacement schedule for the seal ring, it may be necessary to replace on an as-needed basis. If your current seal ring is too loose, or if it has hardened or broken, then you'll need a replacement.
If you are experiencing any leaks (or anything that appears to be a water leak) with your M Series humidifier, consider the following:
- Check your seal and make sure the front latch is closed all the way; if the lid of the water chamber isn't on tight, then water will splash out once you turn your CPAP machine on.
- If you're having difficulty fitting the top of the chamber to the bottom piece, moisten the seal ring with water before trying to place the top of the water chamber on the bottom piece.
- If your seal ring is too loose or it is broken, it must be replaced to prevent splashes in the chamber from leaking. Small waves and splashes occur even when the humidifier is stationary. These are a result of air blowing across the surface of the water.
- Discontinue use of the M Series Hose Swivel if you are using one, since condensation tends to form on it. This problem isn't actually a leak, but water can accumulate on the outside of the CPAP machine and humidifier throughout the course of a night and the result looks like a leak. Respironics stopped shipping the hose swivel with their CPAP machines because of this condensation problem.
- To check for a leak on the bottom of the chamber, fill the chamber to the fill line, wipe the chamber dry on the outside, and then place the chamber on a piece of paper.
