TiControl features two inspiratory time (Ti) parameters, one for Ti maximum (IPAP Max^™) and one for Ti minimum (IPAP Min^™). Together these settings enable customized cycle-window settings for individual patient needs. The minimum (IPAP Min) and maximum (IPAP Max) time limits are set at either side of the ideal spontaneous inspiratory time, providing a "window of opportunity" for the patient to spontaneously flow-cycle to EPAP, thus ensuring synchrony.

IPAP Max avoids late cycling in the presence of leaks, resolving breath cycle synchronization problems between patient and machine. IPAP Max does this by allowing the clinician to adjust the device's respiratory cycle to closely mimic the patient's spontaneous breathing patterns. Furthermore, it allows the clinician to control the inspiratory time in obstructive lung disease patients. This is extremely important in managing the risk of air trapping.

IPAP Min ensures sufficient inspiratory time for patients who may cycle to EPAP too early. IPAP Min helps prevent premature cycling to EPAP and allows more consistent delivery of tidal and minute volumes, particularly for restrictive lung disease patients (eg, those with neuromuscular weakness, chest wall deformity, etc.)
