"Are you dreading the thought of going through a sleep study conducted at a sleep lab? Have you done it once or twice before and now your doctor is suggesting you do it again? Not many people enjoy a sleep test in a lab, and some people are downright afraid to do it, wondering how in the world they'll be able to sleep with electrodes hooked up to them, a mask blowing air up their nose, and people monitoring the whole thing. And then there's the cost. A typical sleep study can easily cost two or three thousand dollars.

So, you might be wondering if there's an alternative. The good news is there is, and it's a pretty good alternative. Good enough even for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to recently approve home sleep tests for determining medical necessity for CPAP therapy. The home sleep test is what I'll describe in the next few paragraphs.
